Every student has a right to an education and no student shall prevent another from receiving it. It is important students understand what their teacher’s expectations are and be aware of the consequences should they fail to meet them. My expectations for students to allow every one an equal education are as follows:
♥ Be on time and ready to work in the morning and after recess/lunch
♥ Be respectful to oneself, others, and personal belongings
♥ Be honest
♥ Be prepared every morning with all your supplies
♥ Get permission to leave the room
For those students who meet these expectations, I intend to provide positive reinforcement and feedback by asking them to clip up on the behavior chart. The following are some of the rewards students may receive if the clip up:

♥ Encouraging Notes Home
♥ Positive Phone Calls Home
♥ Monthly Character Counts Awards
♥ Special Teacher Helper
♥ Late homework pass
♥ Seal Bucks
♥ Raffle Ticket*
♥ Special privileges
*Students will receive raffle tickets for our weekly raffle on Fridays
For students who may struggle meeting my expectations, I have a tiered system for handling inappropriate behavior. Students will be given several verbal warnings regarding their behavior, however, if this fails to grab their attention, they will be asked to clip down. They may clip down for disruptive talking/behavior, not following directions, being off task, being disrespectful, etc. The Clip Chart resets every day. The following is a list of consequences for signing the clipboard:
♥ 1st time is a warning
♥ 2nd time sit outside to fill out a Conduct Card**
♥ 3rd time parent contact (possible Behavior Form)
**If a student fills out the conduct card three times, it goes home for parent signature and requires student to write a reflection. At this time, they may receive a Behavior Form.
I am looking forward to this year and I anticipate sending home many encouraging notes. In order to have a successful year, I need your support. Please review this with your child to make sure he/she has a clear understanding of my expectations and consequences.
